Bumi Nusantara Reviews
Bumi Nusantara is avery basic resort/cottage style hotel with an
excellent location at the costal road facing Pangandaran's sandy western
beach.
I staid here 2 nights as part of an organised tour through Java but wouldn't have chosen the hotel on my own account. Though the premises in general look very authentic and pleasant with lots of green, a nice seating area at the lobby and traditional straw roofed cottages, the room in itself surely didn't merrit its 3 stars. The cottages are made almost entirely of bamboo: walls, roof... which are absolutely not sound proof. As a matter of fact, you can hear a person coughing even 10 rooms further down down the corridor and absolutely every conversation inside and out is overheard. Apart from this, the karaoke bar right in front of my room (at the backside) kept the music on high volume till way after midnight. I do not know what was worse, the volume or the poor singing quality of the contestants... Apart from that, it is a good size room with a large bed. Hygiene is rather minimal: sand on the floor, sheets weren't clean... On the plus side there is AC and mosquito repellent provided. The bathroom is very basic more of local standards. There is some sort of a shower; more like a barrel size tub with a hand shower which cannot be attached to the wall. Only one room per floor can have warm water at the same time. Eventually we had to shower as follows: person in the first cottage takes a shower and shouts to the person in the next when he/she is ready, so that the next one can have hot water etc... Only possible since we had group members on the same floor. There is a breakfast area outside with a rather poor collection of stale toast, jam and outdated chocolate sprinkles. Luckily there is fruit and yoghurt provided as well. The hotel's best feature is its small but scenic pool. The pool's located at the front side and offers a wonderful view on Pangandaran's lovely sandy beach. As the current of the Indian Ocean can be treaturous, it's a safer bet to have a swim or cool down in the pool instead. All in all, an okay place to crash for the night, but I wouldn't recommend it to spend your entire holidays. |
